Karabo started his career in 1998 as a currency trader and later currency derivatives trader with Standard Bank and then ABSA Bank. In 2006 he left the financial markets world to begin his business career, establishing and managing a restaurant in Sandton, Johannesburg.
He founded 20/20 Insight in 2008, working with Barloworld Siyakhula on their various enterprise development initiatives. He helped Siyakhula in its development of SMEs, conducting company diagnostics, business plans, turnaround strategies, business performance monitoring and reviews and then training and mentorship of SME owner-managers in financial management, business optimisation and strategy formulation and management.
He holds a B.Com Honours degree in Business Management; B.Com degree in Economics and Financial Management, and a Certificate in the Mathematical Modelling of Derivatives from UNISA. He also has a Financial Markets Dealing Certificate from the ACI – Financial Markets Association.
Karabo currently sits on the Investments and Innovations Committee of the Board of the Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA).
Thabiso brings to 20/20 Insight extensive experience in structuring transactions, capital raising, post-investment strategy execution, and custodianship of stakeholder value creation.
He started his career at Citigroup South Africa in 2001 structuring and trading interest rate derivatives. In 2005 he joined Royal Bafokeng Holdings (RBH) serving as Treasury Manager and then Strategic Investment Manager. During this time he served as a member of the Boards of Directors of numerous investee companies within the RBH equity investment portfolio.
He was involved in a number of successful transactions, including the raising of an R8 billion syndicated acquisition loan financing facility. In February 2013 he joined Nehawu Investment Holdings (NIH) as chief investment officer.
Thabiso holds an Honours degree in Finance and a Diploma in Portfolio Management and Investment Analysis both obtained from the University of South Africa (UNISA).
